In addition, students were shown some pictures to discuss and describe the output in several situations, whereby they students were able to understand the significance of “Inertia”. After understanding the concept of inertia and discussions held in class, students were able to answer the following types of questions like
Also, with the help of real-life examples and mathematical concepts, students understood the concept and significance of momentum and force. Hence students were able to state and understand Newton’s 2nd Law of Motion and derived formulae for force. Based on their understanding of change in momentum, students could relate with real-life activities like:
CHEMISTRY:The learners of Grade IX turned their virtual classrooms into real chemistry laboratories. They conducted experiments at home to understand the properties of a true solution, suspension and colloidal solution by preparing these solutions from simple materials like flour, milk, chalk and turmeric. The learners enthusiastically participated in the practical which helped them to relate the concept to real-life examples which in turn proved beneficial in understanding the concepts clearly. They learnt to distinguish between the solutions, suspensions and colloids by observing their properties like transparency, nature, Tyndall effect and stability. They also learnt different types of solutions-saturated, unsaturated and supersaturated by dissolving salt in normal and hot water. The students attempted a quiz on MS Forms to assess their conceptual understanding. Their curiosity to learn about different types of solutions was evident while performing the experiments. Various slides of parenchyma, collenchyma and sclerenchyma tissues were shown to them to observe and record their observations. To connect meristematic tissue with collenchyma, sclerenchyma and parenchyma tissues, they researched on ‘’What changes during the division of Meristematic cells? They came up with wonderful conclusions that enabled them to study the structure and functions of simple permanent tissues better. Further, to assess their understanding of plant tissues, an MS Forms quiz was conducted during the lesson. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLftD4Lx2qQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLnjo4Pf2JM http://www1.biologie.uni-hamburg.de/b-online/library/webb/BOT410/410Labs/LabsHTML-99/SimpleTissues/simptisx99rev.html https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=YVlUmu4VSEinRHZ-zb0eGY7USCjb5z1IsvRgjR2_gONUOERTVzRaQ1RWR08wTTRPOVkzOUhQVjZWRi4u GEOGRAPHY:India’s Northern Plains : An in-depth understanding of India’s most fertile physiographic division was taken up, wherein based on the previous knowledge, the students were quizzed on the course of the river, the major rivers that form the Northern plains, the reason for its dense population. A detailed presentation was shared with the students to explain the various geographical features that emerge out of the river once it hits the plains and deposits silt They were further apprised with the increased inflow of water during monsoons and consequent flooding. A VUCA situation was given to enable the children to come up with solutions. The task was designed using De Bono’s 6 Thinking Hats strategy. The purpose of this task was to give students a platform to describe or to reflect on the volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity of general conditions and situations. 1. Anticipate the Issues that Shape the situation 2. Understand the Consequences of Issues and Actions 3. Appreciate the Interdependence of Variables 4. Prepare for Alternative Realities and Challenges 5. Interpret and Address Relevant Opportunities ECONOMICS:The month started with a lot of vigor and excitement.
