“Nothing can dim the light that shines from within.” - Maya Angelou Nurturing November has been a month of celebrations and happiness all around. It was a time of festivities and celebrations. November has been another month of learning new concepts with the maximum participation in different activities which not only honed the skills of the students but also gave them a platform to showcase their talent. The universal theme ‘I am tolerant’ proved to be a big support for the young minds with the help of which the value of being tolerant and content was inculcated well. The students happily narrated their personal experiences during the discussion time in the morning assembly sessions pondering over the idea of tolerance from different perspectives and understanding. They could understand the value of showing consideration and regard for others. They shared their happiness by contributing beautifully to the project ‘Spreading Smiles’ where they thought selflessly about everyone and tried to make an effort to add happiness to others’ lives too. The universal value could be easily related to virtues like team spirit and sportsmanship as we enthusiastically took part in the Suncity Run 2.0 with great zeal and zest. The proud Suncitizens displayed their ardour and passion by celebrating Diwali on the virtual platform integrating all five languages while sharing the significance of the festival. The beautifully integrated ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ activity as a tribute to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose with a talk followed by singing the song ‘Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja’. The students commenced their morning assemblies every day with beautiful thoughts and enriching words. They enjoyed reading the NIE with a focus on current affairs and interesting articles. They learnt to differentiate between an atom and molecule through a Flashcard activity. Cards depicting the symbol of elements, chemical formulae of compounds were shown to them and they identified the atoms of elements and molecules of compounds. Taking their journey ahead, the students were introduced to new terminologies like atomicity, polyatomic anion and cation. For recapitulating the symbols of elements, they played Quizlets where symbols of elements were displayed and they identified the names of elements. To remember the chemical formulae of elements, CHEMBOLA GAME was played by the students. Each student was given a separate link for their ‘Chemgo Cards’ just like bingo cards on which chemical formulae of compounds were written. The students identified and showed the correct chemical formula from the names spoken by the teacher. This game was just like the game of Tambola and Bingo. They enjoyed the game and uniquely learnt the chemical formulae.
